In protest of the privatization of Rajshahi, Rangpur zone of Power Development Board distribution circle in the name of North West Zone Power Distribution company Ltd , about 1800 employees of Ctg PDB including officers, officials and workers applied for 3 days mass leave en masse from yesterday as a part of the movement against the privatization of PDB across the country.
Following the call of Ctg PDB Sramik Karmachari, Officer Oikya Parishad, this programs for mass leave taken on Monday. All the leave applications have been submitted to the concerned head of the Sales and distribution department of PDB, an eye witnesses sources said.
Member secretary of Ctg PDB Sramik Karmachari Karmakartha Oiky Parishad, Engr. Prabir Kumar Sen told the media that they enforced this action program protesting the privatization of Rajshahi, Rangpur PDB distribution region and demanded cancellation of the deal with the proposed power distribution company. Before applying for mass leave from August 9, the officials, workers wear black badge, gate meeting in each sub-station and distribution office and rally, procession etc on August 7 and 8. Sources said protest programs are being observed in 21 sales and distribution office of Ctg PDB simultaneously. An official on condition of anonymity told that they have submitted leave applications to their respective head of departments but it is assumed that these leave will not be granted.
He said all emergency work for uninterrupted power supply in transmission line, sub-stations will be done except general official work as a part of their protest , sources added.
