180-trapped Bangladeshis in Iran on way home

A group of 180 Bangladeshis who were illegally sent to Iran by human traffickers, are on way to the country, Action for Combating Trafficking in person (ACT) disclosed it to the media at an advocacy meeting in Jessore on Friday.
At least 180 people, who fell victim to the crime of human trafficking, are on way to Bangladesh from Iran, ACT programme Coordinator Shah Mohammad Azharul Islam said at the meeting, according to a
report received from Jessore.
All the 180 people who were illegally sent to Iran with promise of job as workers, have been taken under police custody following initiatives taken by Bangladesh government, he said.
A total of 215 trafficked people were repatriated under the ACT programme carried out by Rights Jessore in last two years, Azharul Islam said.
A senior official of Bureau of Manpower ,Employment and Training (BMET) when contacted in Dhaka said, “We have not yet been informed about the matter.”
The advocacy meeting was attended among others, by Ahsan Kabir, general secretary, Jessore Press Club and former secretary Tauhidur Rahman.
