A thief gang stole 18 skeletons from a local graveyard ‘Benupur and Ashapur graveyard’ in the district’s Kaliakoir upazila on Wednesday night.
Member of the Benupur ward of Dhaljora union Md Mozammel Hossain said it is a social graveyard. The caretaker, who was in- charge of the graveyard, came to the grave on Thursday morning and saw that the gang dug 18 graves and lifted the skeletons. Later, he informed the locals. Confirming the matter Kaliakoir Thana SI Abu Jafor said, “We are trying to trace the persons who have stolen the human remains from the graveyard.” Any powerful gang might have involved with the theft, he added.
