Bangladesh on Tuesday reported 18 more deaths from coronavirus, taking the total death toll to 5,699.
Health authorities also announced 1,380 fresh virus cases in a day and the number of novel coronavirus cases in the country now stands at 3,91,586.In last 24 hours, 1,542 corona patients recovered from the virus. Till now, a total of 3,07,141 people made recovery from the deadly virus.
Currently, there are 78,746 active cases in the country.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) confirmed the matter through a press release signed by Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General of DGHS, on Tuesday afternoon.
In the last 24 hours, 110 coronavirus testing laboratories across the country collected 13,860 samples and tested 13,611.
With this, a total of 2,192,325 samples were tested in the country.
Among the newly deceased, 14 were men and four women. Of them, 12 were from Dhaka, three from Chittagong, one from Khulna, and two from Rangpur divisions respectively.
As of today, a total of 4,385 men (76.94 per cent) and 1,314women (23.06 per cent) died from COVID-19 in Bangladesh.
The latest day’s infection rate is 10.14 per cent, compared to the sample tested, while the overall infection rate is 17.86.
So far, the recovery rate is 78.44 per cent and the mortality rate is 1.46 per cent.
Bangladesh reported its first coronavirus cases on March 8 and the first death on March 18.
