Disaster Management and Relief Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya, Bir Bikram on Saturday said the government has sent around 18 lakh blankets at grassroots for distributing among the cold-hit people across the country.
“Prime Minister Office has sent 10 lakh blankets while the Disaster Management and Relief Ministry sent another 8 lakh to grassroots. Blankets have already been distributed in many districts and distribution is underway,” he told a blanket distribution ceremony at Matlab upazila in Chandpur.
The minister asked the concerned officials at grassroots to distribute rest of the allocated blankets among the destitute people. Maya said more blankets will be sent as poor people will not have to suffer in cold.
