A team of Barishal Kotwali police station with the help of coast guard on Wednesday noon deatening two trucks seized 40 lakhs shrimp pollens ( Renu Pona) and and jailed 18 persons for three days.
Abu Sayed, Barishal district fisheries officer (DFO), acknowledging the facts said two trucks carrying 73 dram full of 40 lakhs shrimp pollen seized on Wednesday noon at Sahid Abdur Rab Seniabad Bridge area under Barishal Sadar Upazila of the district.
Police detained 18 shrimp traders and workers of the trucks and produced them before the mobile court led by Rabin Sis, excutive magistrate of Barishal district administration.
The court sentenced eighteen businessmen and workers of thr trucks to 3 days imprisonment under section of 188 of the criminal prosecution act of 1860 and sent them to Barishal central jail on Wednesday afternoon.
The recovered shrimp pollens released on Kirtankhola river by order of the court.
The arrestees confessed that they collecting shrimp pollens from Bhola were going to Khulna and Bagerhat.
