The Coast Guard has rescued 18 fishermen from a boat floating in the sea near Banshkhali coast of Chittagong. They were rescued around 12:30 pm on Tuesday.
The matter has been confirmed by Coast Guard East Zone Staff Officer (Operations) Lieutenant Commander M Habibur Rahman.
He said, ‘Yesterday a boat carrying goods was going to Kutubdia from Chittagong. Suddenly the engine of that boat broke down in the sea. Later they called 999 and we were informed about the matter. After receiving the news, we went and rescued 16 fishermen from the boat at around 12:30 pm. Later we brought the boat ashore. The navy assisted in the rescue operation.
