Police have detained 15 women and three men during a raid on a health club and beauty salon in Dhaka’s Gulshan on charges of running an illegal massage parlour and buying service.
The women are staff members of the Lifestyle Spa Health Club and Salon on the 17th floor of Navana Tower at Gulshan-1 and the three men are customers, according to police. Personnel from Gulshan Police Station took part in the raid on Sunday night amid a crackdown on illegal activities like casino-style gambling at sport clubs. “The raid is under way. We’ve seized materials used for massage,” Dhaka Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner for Gulshan Zone Sudip Kumar Chakrabarty told bdnews24.com around 9:30pm.
Asked why they raided a health club, he said there were allegations that its authorities were running an illegal massage parlour.
