Staff Reporter :Eighteen cops of Bhasantek Police Station have been suspended and one Sub-Inspector (SI) of the police station has been withdrawn for failure to arrest the Nasir murder case’s listed accused though three days passed by this time, Sattyaki Kabiraj, Assistant Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) said. Nasir was beaten and hacked to death by some local miscreants for protesting stalking of his cousin in the city’s Bhasantek area on Saturday.The law enforcers could not yet arrest any accused in the sensational murder case, Bhasantek Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) Golam Nabi told the New Nation on Monday. He said that police conducted operation in the city’s various areas in search of the accused. Efforts will continue.The OC said, they are slum dwellers and floating people.”We are trying to arrest the accused soon. Police formed three separate teams to nab them,” the police official said. He said that police suspected that the accused might have fled the capital and its outskirts areas. The law enforcers are looking into the matter seriously, the OC said.A case has been filed with the police station over the incident mentioning the name of Mamun, Alam, Sohel, Sujon, Bablu and two others, he said.
