Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) yesterday seized a consignment of 18 containers in Chittagong Port for allegedly importing limestone and calcium carbonate under false declaration.
The containers were imported by ‘Quality Brothers’ declaring to be containing ‘poultry feed’, but after examining the sample, the contents were found lime stone and calcium carbonate, said Zakir Hossain, Deputy Director of CIID of Chittagong.
“The importer was trying to evade huge revenue by importing the goods under false declaration as the imported goods need more revenue that the declared ones”, Zakir added.
