18 cases filed against Barrister Mainul

At least 18 cases have been filed so far in different parts of the country against Barrister Mainul Hosein on the charge of using indecent language at journalist Masuda Bhatti on a live television talk show on October 16.
Of them, 15 are defamation cases and three are filed under Digital Security Act, sources said.
In the meantime, Barrister Mainul Hosein has secured anticipatory bail from the High Court in three separate defamation cases filed in Dhaka, Jamalpur and Kurigram.
But, on October 22, a team of Detective Branch (DB) of police detained former Adviser of Caretaker Government Barrister Mainul Hosein in a defamation case filed in Rangpur. The following day Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate of Dhaka Md Kaisarul Islam sent him to jail rejecting his bail plea after hearing.
Yet the filing of cases continues and a total of 18 cases have been filed so far in different parts of the country against Barrister Mainul.
On October 21, Masuda Bhatti filed a case with the Court of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate of Dhaka, Muhammad Asaduzzaman Noor. After taking the charges into cognizance, the Dhaka court issued the arrest warrant and directed the Officer-in-Charge of Sutrapur police to submit a report on execution of the order by November 22.
The same day, another case was filed by Convener of Jamalpur Jubo Mohila League Farzana Yasmin Lita with the Court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Soleiman Kabir. The Jamalpur Court also took cognizance of the charges and issued an arrest order after a Tk 20,000 crore defamation case was filed against Mainul Hosein.
Advocate Maksuda Begum of Kurigram filed another defamation case on October 21. Chief Judicial Magistrate of Kurigram Hasan Mahmudul Islam summoned Barrister Mainul Hosein after taking the charges brought against him into cognizance.
Two more defamation cases were filed in Cumilla and Bhola on October 22 against Barrister Mainul Hosein. In Cumilla, Advocate Subir Nandi filed a case with Senior Judicial Magistrate Court in the afternoon and its Judge Md Sohel Rana fixed December 23 to hear the case.
