18 BNP-Jamaatmen among 52 arrested in Rangpur

Police arrested a total of 52 persons, including, 18 leaders and activists of BNP, its front organisations and Jamaat-E-Islami Bangladesh from different places here in the district last night, police sources said.
Police arrested 15 leaders and activists of BNP and its front organisations and three leaders and activists of Jamaat for their alleged involvement with recent subversive activities committed in the district.
Of them, Kotwali Thana police arrested Vice-president of Gobindaganj upazila unit of Jamaat in Gaibandha district Saidur Rahman, 36, and Mithapukur Thana police arrested Jamaat activists Abdus Sattar, 46, and Yunus Ali, 42.
On the other hand, Kotwali Thana police arrested leaders and activists of BNP and its front organisations Rajib, 25, Shahin, 18, Faruk, 25, Manjurul, 26, Manjurul Islam, 20, Milan, 19, and Habibur, 18, from different places in the city and its adjoining areas.
Pirgachha Thana police arrested leaders and activists of BNP Mohsin Ali, 45, Mohubar Rahman, 48, Elias Hossain, 25, Jamal Hossain, 45, Habibur Rahman, 42, and Abdul Latif, 30, while Pirganj Thana police arrested Milan, 27, and Maridul Islam, 22 from different places.
The arrested leaders and activist of BNP and its front organisations and Jamaat are allegedly involved with hurling petrol bombs, killing innocent people, blasting cocktail bombs and other terrorist activities in recent times.
