10,000 injured, 70 candidates boycott election, several hundreds held

At least 17 men were killed and over 10,000 injured in clashes among leaders and supporters of ruling Awami League, Oikyafront, BNP men and cops personnel across the country on Sunday
Several hundreds leaders and activists of mainly opposition parties were picked up by cops personnel during the polls.
Of the deceased, three men were shot by police while 14 others died in clashes between activists of Awami League and anti-government opposition parties, reports our district Correspondents.
The ruling partymen allegedly attacked on the opposition candidates, their agents, and supporters.
In Cumilla, One Oikyafront supporter Mujib, 35, was killed in Chandina in police firing during what the law enforcers say snatching ballots from voting centres.
The incident took place at Pashchim Belashwar voting centre, under Cumilla-7 constituency. Local LDP candidate has stated him as a supporter of Oikyafront, said Chandina Police Staion Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abu Foysol Mia.
Another BNP supporter Bachchu Mia, 45, was killed in Awami League attack at Murgaon voting centre, under Cumilla-10, our local correspondent reported.
In Chattogram, Awami League, BNP and supporters of ‘candle’ symbol locked in clashes in Patiya, leaving 18-year-old Abu Sadek dead. The incident took place around 10:00am at Pashchim Maliapara, under Chattogram-12. The political victim’s affiliation could not be ascertained.
Another Jatiya Party activist Ahmed Kabir, 55, was killed after being attacked in Bashkhali, around 3:00am, in Chattogram-16.
In Rajshahi, BNP men said to have attacked and killed an AL supporter, Merajuddin, 22, in Pakuria High School in Mohonpur, Rajshahi-3 around 10:30am, reports our local staff correspondent quoting Rajshahi Additional SP Abdur Razzaque Khan.
 Besides, AL leader Modasser Ali, 40, was killed in polls violence at Mohamamdpur High School Center in Pachandar Union in Godagari upazia on Sunday afternoon.
In Dinajpur, ageneral voter died during tension between supporters of AL and BNP in Sohogram Government Primary School, under Dinajpur-2 in the afternoon. The victim was Kina Mohammad, was about 65.
In Rangamati, a local leader of Jubo League was killed in a clash with BNP activists at a polling centre in Kaukhali upazila of Rangamati in the morning.
Deceased Md Basir Uddin, 32, was Jubo League general secretary of Gagra union unit, Manjurul Islam, OC of Kaukhali Police Station said.
In Cox’s Bazar, an activist of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Md Abdullah, 23, was killed in clashes with BNP activists in Pekua upazila’s Rajakhali Matobbar Para centre, under Cox’s Bazar-1.
In Bogura, one AL supporter Azizul Haque, 28, was killed during a clash with BNP at Baghail Government Primary School, under Bogura-4, reports our district correspondent quotes Kahalu Police Station OC Showkot Kabir.
In Noakhali, a member of law enforcement agency was killed by activists of Oikyafront in Tulatuli Government Primary School, under Noakhali-3 constituency. The deceased was identified as Nurunnabi, a member of Ansar force. He was killed in clashes that took place around 12:50pm.
In Narsingdi, an Awami League polling agent Md Milon was found dead after a clash between AL and supporters of independent candidate in Kunderpara Government Primary School, under Narsingdi-3, around 12:30pm, said the centre’s Presiding Officer Mahbub Mridha.
In Gazipur, an Awami League activist Liakat Ali, 44, was killed in clashes with BNP in Harinal High School voting centre, under Gazipur-2 in Sadar upazila, said Soumir Sutradhar, OC of Gazipur Sadar Police Station.
In Sylhet, Balaganj upazila Chhatra Dal General Secretary Saim Ahmed Sohel, 24, was killed in clashes around 3:45pm at Azizpur Government Primary College, under Sylhet-3.
Upazila BNP General Secretary Mujibur Rahman claimed it was police who fired on BNP activists, our local correspondent reported.
In Lakkhipur, a 35-yaar unidentified youth was killed by unknown micreants at Baralia Government Primary School in Dauutapara union of Lakkhpur Sadar upazila In Brahmanbaria, A 19-year old Irsail Mia was killed being fired by law enforcers at Rajghor Government Primary School in the morning, said Sadar Model Police Sub-Inspector.
In Brahmanbaria, the House of Jatiya Oikyafront candidate seat Brahmanbaria-3 was attacked, vandalized, looted allegedly by Bangladesh Chhatra League men on Sunday. Two of his cars were also torched during the attack, reports our Brahmanbaria correspondent.
The candidate, Khaled Hossain Mahbub Shaymal, claimed that the BCL men exploded crude bombs and captured a polling centre right beside his home before attacking his house.
In Natore, Hossen Ali, an AL supporter, was killed by knife attack at Shamash Khalsi High School Vote Center in Naldanga upazila on Sunday morning.
