At least 17 thatched houses have been gutted in a fire that ravaged a colony in Chittagong’s Amin Jute Mill area under Baizid thana in city yesterday. No casualties were, however, reported instantly.
The fire originated from an electric short circuit around 4am yesterdsay, Agrabad fire service station’s control room operator Bishu Das said.
Three vehicles of a firefighting unit struggled for two and a half hours to put out the blaze, he said.
