A total of 17 candidates in which 10 for the post of chairman, 5 for vice chirman and two for women reserved seats filed nomination papers in Gafargaon upazila of Mymensingh on Sunday in the upcoming upazila election.
The election will be held on March 31.
The chairman candidates are Ahsraf Uddin Badal of (AL), Alal ahamad (AL), Obaidullah anoar bulbul (AL), Josim uddin (AL), Musfiqur Rahman (BNP), Saifus Salehin Shofa (BNP), Kobir Sarkar (BNP), Hasna Hadi Ranu (BNP), Kari Habibullah Balali of (JP) and Mowlana Ismahil hossain sohel of (Jamaat).
The vice chairman candidates are: Moniruzaman Moni (AL), Abduallah Al Mamun (BNP), Azimuddin (BNP), Mofazaul Ansari (Indentadent) and Sohal Nisan Taz (AL).
The women vice chairman reserved candidates are: Rasma Akter (AL), Tohinur Rahman of BNP.
Two killed in Sylhet road crash

Two people were crushed under the wheels of a truck in Chargaon area on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Bahubal upazila in Habiganj on Saturday.The deceased were identified as Zahir Mia, 35,Habiganj and Ranu Chandra Rai, 26, of Habiganj town.Witnesses said the Jaflong-bound truck from Dhaka hit a motorcycle carrying Zahir and Ranu in the area around 3:00pm, leaving Zahir dead on the spot and Ranu injured.
Injured Ranu succumbed to his injuries on way to Osmani Medical College Hospital.
