More than 17 crore patients received health services from community clinic since their inception across the country in 2009. On an average, about 100 patients take health services from every community clinic daily.
There are arrangements for normal child birth in 224 community clinics. The community clinics have been provided with laptops and internet connections to preserve information about mothers, children and other patients.
Community clinic project sources said the government is expanding activities of community clinics to ensure health services for the rural people. Currently, 298 community clinics are under constructions and measures are underway to construct 606 more clinics.
The community healthcare providers serve the patients from 9 am to 3 pm every day except Fridays and public holidays. Besides, specialized doctors from government hospitals come to communality clinics once a week to serve the patients.
The patients are getting 30 types of medicines from the community clinics.
Natore district Baraigram upazila sadar community clinic healthcare provider Ujjal Kumar told BSS that the country’s poor people are getting proper healthcare because of the community clinic project undertaken by the Awami League government.
The number of patients in community clinic is increasing day by day and about 100 patients get treatment from a community clinic daily, he added.
The Awami League government introduced community clinic project in 1996 to reach health services to the doorsteps of the rural people. The BNP-Jamaat government closed the community clinics in 2001.
Then the Awami League-led grand alliance government reopened the clinics after assuming office in 2009.
