Police recovered about 48 gold bars weighing 16 kg from a toilet at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Saturday.
Estimated market price of the gold is nearly Tk eight crore.
The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate said in a press release that the gold was found at a waste basket in the men’s toilet close to the No. 7 boarding bridge in the early hours of the day.
The statement said that nine packets of gold bars were found wrapped in scotch tape. Then the officials opened the packets and found the gold bars.
Customs officials say that the market value of the recovered gold is about Tk 78,690,000.
Earlier on March 18, two cabin crews were detained by the Customs Intelligence and Investigation officials with 36 gold bars weighing 4kgs in the same airport.
