Police in separate drives arrested at least 166 people in various cases in the four districts of Sylhet Division.
The police of Sylhet Range carried out the special drives in different areas of the four districts from Friday morning to Saturday morning and arrested the people. The police carried out the drive to arrest mainly the fugitives accused in several cases.
Superintendent of Police (SP) of Sylhet Noor-e-Alam said that carrying out drive is a regular process of police, but these special drives were conducted to arrest wanted persons. Most of the arrestees are the warranted persons, while few others are the accused or suspected in several cases, the SP said.
Thirty-nine of the arrested persons were held from several thanas of Sylhet, while 49 in Habiganj, 23 in Moulvibazar and 55 in Sunamganj. Police sent them to courts on Saturday morning. Earlier last week, police in separate drives in the four districts also arrested 200 people who are accused in various cases.
