Customs Intelligence working at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka seized 161 gold bars (19 kilograms) valuing Tk 9.35 crore approximately from two Bangladeshi passengers, who arrived from Dubai on Wednesday morning at 9.30am.
.Customs Intelligence Chief Moinul Haque said that the gold bars were found strapped with the bodies of the two passengers identified as Salah Uddin and Abu Sayeed.
Both of them are Bangladeshi nationals.
On secret information, customs officials intercepted Shamsuddin and Abu Sayeed when they were passing through the green channel of the airport and recovered the gold bars after searching their bodies, he said.
Police later arrested the passengers for interrogation.
