Ishwardi (Pabna) Correspondent :
Ishwardi Government College, which is recognized as the gateway to the north, is being run with no guardian. The college has no a principal or vice-principal for more than a month now. Although an associate professor in charge, he has limitations in policy, financial and, in many cases, his powers. In this situation the administrative and academic activities of the college have come to a standstill. Apart from the principal and vice-principal, there are 18 vacancies in the college. Due to the vacancy in the post of teachers, the teaching activities are being severely hampered. The working teachers and students of the college demanded immediate appointment of teachers in the vacant posts of principal and vice-principal.
It is learned that on 21 July 2021, Principal Prof Abdur Rahim was transferred. After the transfer, Vice- Principal Prof Zakirul Haque took over as the Acting Principal. He also retired from the job on December 21. While retiring, he assigned Hafiza Khatun, an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics. But because he was not a direct principal, he did not have the power to ionize. As a result, the administrative work of the college is being disrupted.
The college, which was established in 1963, now offers honors courses in 12 departments in addition to higher secondary and degree. The number of students is about eight thousand. The issue of launching master’s course is also under process. The number of created posts of teachers in the college is 58. Of these, 16 posts of teachers have been vacant for a long time.
