Sixteen shops were gutted in a devastating fire that broke out at Sonapur Municipality market under Noakhali district early yesterday morning.
Md. Liton Mia, general secretary of Sonapur Municipality Market Society said that the fire originated from a short circuit of one Dhaka Store and soon engulfed other shops.
Md. Nurnabi, team-leader of Maijdee Fire Service Station, said that on information a unit of Maijdee Fire Service rushed to the spot and doused fire after 2 hours of hectic efforts. The fire originated from the short circuit, he added.
