Shakir Ahmed :Sixteen people so far have been killed and 313 others injured during the blockade enforced by BNP-led 20-party alliance since December 27 to till the date. Of the injured, there were 92 policemen. The condition of 17 persons including 8 police personnel was stated to be critical. At the same time around 300 vehicles were vandalized or torched.Six persons were burned to death when blockaders torched their vehicles in different parts of the country during the aforesaid period. In this backdrop, inspector general of police AKM Shahidul Haque on Wednesday informed the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina about latest situation of the country over telephone, sources said.The IGP also said, around 112 vehicles were vandalized and 170 were set ablaze during the blockade time.The miscreants also blasted 115 improvised bombs and cocktails during enforcing blockade. Police so far have arrested 5457 persons during blockade period.
