A woman named Hera Khatun filed a case in a Jessore court against 16 policemen of Jessore Kotowali Police Station on Tuesday accusing them of abducting and hidding of body.
She is the wife of one Tauhidul Islam, resident of Shankarpur in Jessore.
The court has ordered Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to investigate and submit a report.
The accused are Jessore Police Station’s Sub Inspector (SI) HM Shahidul Islam, SI Amir Hossain, SI Hasanur Rahman, Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Rajon Gazi, ASI Selim Munshi, ASI Biplob Hossain, ASI Selim Ahmed, Constable Arifuzzaman, Constable Rafiqul Islam, Constable Md Ramzan, Constable Habibur Rahman, Constable Abu Bakkar, Constable Mizan Shiekh, Constable Mahmudur Rahman, Constable Razibul Islam and Constable Tokon Hossain.
In the case, Hera Khatun said that on April 5 at 10 am, her only son Sayed and his friend Shaon went to visit the Municipal Park of Jessore. Around 12 pm, a person named Sabbir Hossain notified her calling in cell phone that Police had arrested Sayed and Shaon from the park. When she reached there, she found that Police were carrying them by Police car.
She ran to car and asked Police about the reason of her son’s arrest, but Police asked her to contact them at the Police station. After this, she waited till dusk in front of the Police Station as she was not allowed to enter the police station. At about 7 pm, two members of Police called her and demanded Tk Two lakh to get back her son, but as she was not able to pay the demanded money. Police did not release her son.
On April 7, she knew from newspaper report that her son Sayed and Shaon had escaped Police custody. She contacted the Police station, but Police did not co-operate her. She went to the court and knew that Police filed a case in the court where they had disclosed that her son and Shaon escaped from Police custody. Later, she had visited the police station in search of her son many times, but Police misbehaved with her repeatedly.
At one stage, to search her son, on April 30 she arranged a press conference at Jessore Press Club. Still, she had not found her missing son and his friend.
The Plaintiff is suspecting that, as a result of not getting the demanded money, the police hid the dead bodies of her son and his friend in a planned manner. As such, she had filed a case in the court for justice.
On the other hand, Additional Police Super of Jessore Salahuddin Sikder claimed that the complaint was baseless and motivated and said the case was filed to destroy Police image.
