Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members detained 16 Malaysia-bound fortune seekers along with three brokers from Myanmar bordering river Rezu in the district on Tuesday morning.
Identities of the detainees could not be known immediately.
Confirming the matter BGB-17 Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Khandakar Saiful Alam said that acting on tip-off, a patrol team conducted a drive and held them from a boat in the area.
