16 cases transferred to Speedy Tribunal courts

Sixteen cases filed over violence before and after the Jan 5 parliament polls in Chittagong will be handed over to Speedy Trials tribunals . This decision was taken in a meeting at the Chittagong police headquarters on Sunday attended by OCs of sixteen police stations of the port city and top officials of the city police.
162 cases over violent incidents were filed across Chittagong before and after the Jan 5 polls in 2013-14 .
‘Of these, sixteen important cases will be transferred to the Speedy Trials tribunals. This was decided in our meeting on Sunday,” said Babul Akhter, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong police (Detective Branch).
Five of these cases were filed with Chittagong’s Kotwali police station, three with Akbarshah police station, two each with Panchlaish, Double Mooring and Pahartoli police stations and one each with Baklia and Patenga police stations.
Chittagong police says 41 cases of violence were filed before and after the Jan 5 polls with the Kotwali police stations – the highest among those in the port city.
