A total of 1,572 more landless and homeless families of nine upazilas in the district have got their new houses today as a gift from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the distribution of tin-shed pucca houses free of cost under the second phase of the Asrayan-2 project on virtual platform joining from her official Ganabhaban residence in the capital this morning across the country.
Faridpur Deputy Commission Atul Sarker handed over the documents of the land ownership and keys of houses to the beneficiaries in a meeting at Sadar upazila auditorium under the second phase of the Asrayan Project -2.
Of the total beneficiary families, 153 are in Sadar upazila ,370 in Sadarpur, 200 in Saltha , 40 in Modhukhali, 230 in Alfadanga, 130 in Boalmari,110 in Nagarkanda, ,200 in Charvodrason and 139 in Bhanga upazila. Beside this, Swapna Nagar has been established in Alfadanga upazila for houseless and homeless families.
Earlier, a total of 2035 houses were given to the people here in the first phase of Asrayan Project-2. A total of 3,607 houses have been given to the landless and houseless people in the district.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Alimuzzaman, Sadar UNO Masum Reza, Sadar Upazila Chairman Md Abdur Razzak Molla , among others, attended the function.
