Some 15,000 fish of several species died suddenly at a pond at Tantikandi village in Sadar upazila on Saturday morning.
Locals informed that all of the fish of the pond started to die from Friday night and in the next morning all the dead fish were afloat on the water surface.
Bazlu Mahmud, one of the two owners of the pond, said they could not identify the reason behind the death of those fish.
Sadar Upazila Fisheries Officer Shahjada Khasru said as there is no sign of poisoning or gasification in the pond, the fish might have died due to a disease.
