150 tourists stranded on Saint Matin’s Island

The tourist ships could not ply the Teknaf-Saint Martin’s Island route due to cautionary Signal No. 3, leaving around 150 tourists stranded on Saint Martin’s Island.
No ships could not reach the island on November 17 for the inclement weather and the cautionary Signal No. 3. So the tourist cannot return. But the local administration said the stranded tourists are safe.
An official of Cox’s Bazar Met office said the tourist ships have been asked to suspend movement till further direction. The lower convection over the Bay of Bengal has caused maritime ports to raise cautionary signal to 3.
Shah Alam, manager of tourist ship Keari Sindabad, said 1,000 tourists could not reach Saint Martin’s due to the cautionary Signal No 3 following rain and inclement weather.
Saint Martin’s UP Chairman Nur Ahmed said the ships on Teknaf-Saint Martin’s route suspended their journey from Thursday, As a result 150 tourists remained stranded in Saint Martin’s. “We are monitoring food and accommodation facilities of the tourists,” he said.
Coast Guard Station Commander Lt. Zafar Imam Sajib said At least 150 tourists stranded in different hotels and motels in Saint Martin’s. They cannot return Teknaf for rough weather.
