A total of 150 ethnic community people including 80 female were given necessary tools for income generation to make them self-reliant.
Seventy five got house building devices, 50 received materials for preparing block boutique and nakshi kantha and 25 got electrical and house wearing machineries free of cost.
They were given the support after completion of 15-day training on the trades and vocational lesson at Nachole Upazila in Chapainawabganj district on Monday.
On behalf of a project titled “Fighting Forced Labour with Adivasi and Dalit Communities in South Asia”, the skill and capacity building assistances were provided at a simple ceremony following health rules amid the Covid-19 pandemic situation. The three-year project is being implemented in 50 villages under Tanore Upazila in Rajshahi and Nachole Upazila in Chapainawabganj districts aimed to address the systemic and structural vulnerabilities of marginalized agricultural communities for eliminating the child labour.
The Agriculture Sustainable and Socio-economic development Organization (ASSEDO) has been implementing the project with financial and technical support of the European Union and Traidcraft Exchange. The project aims at making 4,000 youths of 2,000 households self-reliant engaging them in various income-generating activities.
