Detective branch (DB) of police arrested 15 robbers from different areas of the district on Monday.
Acting on a tip off, a team of the DB raided Digarkanda area under Sadar upazila in the early hours and arrested nine robbers while they were taking preparations to commit a dacoity on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway, said Imarat Hossain Gazi, officer-in-charge (OC) of the DB, Mymensingh.
Subsequently, another six robbers were arrested from different areas of the district on the basis of leads provided by the nabbed miscreants.
The arrested were identified as Tareq Ahmed, 29, Raju, 22, Russel, 32, Setu Miah, 22, Al Amin, 25, Bazlu, 32, Shamim, 20, Sabbir Ahmed, 26, Sumon Miah, 22, Al Amin Miah, 21, Masum, 25, Ariful Islam, 22, Md Alamin, 26, Sajol, 18 and Md Sumon, 20.
The police recovered sharp weapons from their possessions. The arrested were sent to jail on Monday afternoon.
