15 lakh yaba pills seized, 12 arrested

Elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) recovered 15 lakh pieces of yaba tablet and arrested a total of 12 alleged smugglers including five Myanmar citizens from outer anchorage of Chittagong port on Saturday morning. The arrested Bangladesi citizens are identified as Najir Ahmad (55), Mohammad Hashem (19), Mohammad Sadek (25), Khairul Amin (22), Mohammad Jafar 930), Khokan (25) and Anisur Rahman (18). The arrested Myanmar citizens are identified as Mohammad Selim alias Moloy (20), Nur Alam (25), Saddam Hossain (20), Mohammad Abdul Khalek (24) and Mohammed Ismail (20).
Commanding Officer (CO) of RAB-7 Lt Colonel Miftah Uddin said acting on tip off, a team of RAB recovered15 lakh pieces of yaba tablets and arrested a total of 12 aba smugglers including five Myanmar citizens from outer anchorage of Chittagong port. Sources said, smuggling of contraband yaba tablet, a drug containing morphine and amphetamine, phensidyl syrup and other drugs is rampant in Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar area.
The law enforcing agencies including elite force RAB, police and Border Guard of Bangladesh (BGB) taking step to stop the smuggling of Yaba and other drugs recently. The law enforcers are continuing the special raids to nab the yaba smugglers regularly in Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar.
