A dead Katla (carp fish) weighing 15 kg has been recovered from Halda river , a natural breeding ground for carp fish in South Asia. The fish weights 15 kg, is 40 inches long, 13 inches breadth. The fish is believed to have been hunted with a fishing rod. Hathazari Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Shahidul Alam rescued the fish on the basis of secret information.
The fish was recovered from Mozaffarpur area of Mekhal Union on Friday (July 15) night. Later on Friday at around 11 pm, Chattogram University professor and Halda researcher Manjurul Kibria was informed.
He took the fish to the university’s Halda River Research Laboratory. Professor Manjurul Kibria told media persons that in order to protect the fish of Halda river, the people of Halda bank have to play the most important role. The people’s representatives, youth and youth of Halda bank will really protect the Halda river.
