Kishoreganj Women Affairs Department arranged a colourful rally, discussion, certificate distribution and Joyeeta (Rokeya) Award marking the Begum Rokeya Day on Sunday.
A discussion meeting held at collectorate conference room on Sunday afternoon. ADC (Gen) Tarafder Md. Akter Jamil was attended as Chief Guest while District Women Affairs Officer Mamun-or-Rashid in the chair.
It was addressed among others by ADC (Education and ICT) Abdullah-al Masud, Abu Khaled Pathan, Mohila Sangtha Chairman Khaleda Fency Runa, Advocate Maya Bhowmik, Mohila Somitti President Sultana Rajia and District Press Club President Mostafa Kamal.
Chief and special guest distributed the Joyeeta Award .
BSS from Panchagarh reports: Five Joyeeta women of Debiganj upazila were accorded reception by upazila administration and upazila women affair ,department in Debiganj upazila on Sunday. Debiganj upazila women affair department and upazila administration
jointly arranged the programme to honour them on the occasion of Begum Rokeya day.
The five Joyeeta are Masuda Siddika for education, Moslema Begum for social-welfare, Mahabuba Begum for economic success, Nur Naher Begum for being successful mother and Farida for started new life after torture.
Debiganj UNO NProty Hasan handed over the crest among the five Joyeeta.
On this occasion, a discussion meeting was held where UNO of Debiganj Proty Hasan addressed the meeting as the chief guest.
BSS from Rajshahi adds: The Begum Rokeya Day was observed in Rajshahi with various programmes. Some 10 Joyeeta women here had been accorded reception as organisers attributed to generate employment to make women self-reliant with freeing them from all sorts of violence and repression. Earlier the women were adorned with Joyeeta award as recognition for their laudable contribution to social development.

Chaired by District Women Affairs Officer Shobnom Shirin, the function was addressed, among others, by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Zulfikar Nayon, Social Worker Shaheen Akter Rainy and Assistant Director of the center Asgar Ali Khan.
The speakers said government has taken various initiatives to create women-friendly atmosphere in the country so that they can play an important role for country’s socioeconomic development.
Bangladesh has achieved tremendous success in women development and empowerment to become a role model in the world, they said, adding the womenfolk have proved their abilities, expertise and efficiency in every field of our national life.
The Joyeeta award was introduced encouraging women to face various challenges with confidence and become role models for the society.
