At least 15 villagers were injured in a fierce clash at Jalahar village of Ghorshal union parishad in Jhenaidah Sadar upazila on Tuesday morning. The injured were rushed to Jhenaidah Sadar hospital.
Feud over fishing was the reason behind the clash, locals and the police said.
Locals said, there was a long time enmity between Ananda Kesta and Niranjan Ratan following domination in the locality.
Ananda Kesta allegedly beaten up Sarajit Biswas, belongs to Niranjan Ratan group was trying to catch fish at the rice plot of Sarajit Biswas on Monday afternoon.
Both the groups following the previous day’s assault appeared in the clash with Dhal, Falla, lethal and sharp weapons on Tuesday morning left 15 injured.
Of them Biswajit Mandal, Meghnath Mandal, Parimal Mandal, Krishna Mandal, Shimul Mandal, Galib Biswas, Sripati Biswas, Biswajit Biswas and Sarajit Biswas sustained injuries. Later the police had intervened the matter and sent to injured to Jhenaidah Sadar hospital.
