At least 15 people were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers over a land-related dispute at Atghar village in Jagannathpur upazila on Monday evening.
Police said the incident took place at the house of one Faruk Miah during an arbitration meeting.
The villagers arranged the meeting to settle the land related dispute between Jilu Miah and Faruk Miah, residents of the village.
At a stage, supporters of both the groups locked in a clash with local weapons following an altercation, leaving at least 15 people injured.
Seriously injured Lal Miah, 45, and Ana Miah, 42, were admitted to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.
