A tribunal court on Wednesday sentenced the eleven people to life term rigorous imprisonment (RI) in a murder case.
Additional District & Sessions Judge of Kishoreganj Md. Abu Taher after examination the records and witnes, handed down the verdict.
The convicted persons are Allad Shah, Moklesur Rahman Shah, Ataur Shah, Shamsuddin Shah, Sakib Shah, Safir Uddin Sha, Ronjon Shah, Owid Shah, Chandor Shah, Alam Miah, Minto Mia and Jamal Shah.
The tribunal also fined them Tk. 50,000 each.
The victims fathers filed a murder case in this connection with Katiadi Police Station.
The case was conducted by APP Md. Ataur Rahman on behalf of the state while Advocate M.A Rashid, Advocate Mia Md. Ferdous and Advocate Ashok Sarker on behalf of the accused.
Satkhira Correspondent adds: Four people were sentenced to life imprisonment in Satkhira for human trafficking on Tuesday.
At the same time, an order of imprisonment of Tk 50,000 each and another six months in prison was ordered. Besides, one of the accused has been acquitted in the case.
Judge Hosne Ara Akhter of Satkhira Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal declared the verdict .
The convicts are – Abdur Rashid, his wife Rahima Khatun, Abdul Jalil and his wife Maishura Khatun from Mahmudpur Badamtala village of Sadar upazila.
Apart from this, Asadul Islam of the same village has been acquitted.
According to the case details, the accused sold the Rupali Dasi (16), the daughter of deceased honey of Mahmudpur Badamtala village on January 2, 2010, and sold them to a brothel in Bombay, India. In this incident, her mother Gita Dasi filed a case against the five people under human trafficking law.
Four people were sentenced to life imprisonment and fine of Tk 50,000, in the absence of further six-month rigorous imprisonment and one to acquit one, after witnessing the testimony of eight people and reviewing the documents proved against the accused.
Special PP reporter of Satkhira Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Advocate Jahurul Haider Babu confirmed that the accused are all absconders.
