UNB, Kushtia :
Miscreants torched a betel field in Mathurapur Barobazar area of Doulatpur upazila early Thursday, burning down betel leaves on 15 bighas of land.
Owners of the betel field said a group of miscreants set fire to the betel field at the village at about 3:00am and fled away.
The fire damaged betel leaves, owned by eight farmers, on fifteen bighas of land.
The extent of losses caused by the fire was estimated at Tk25 lakh.
The victims alleged that their rivals torched the betel field in a planned way as a sequel to the past enmity.
Officer-in-charge of Daulatpur Police Station Ekramul Haque confirmed the incident.
