15 BD survivors return from Tunisia

At least 15 Bangladeshi migrant workers, who survived a boat capsize in the Mediterranean Sea on May 11 along the Tunisian coast, returned home on Tuesday.
The survivors, the victims of trafficking, were repatriated by International Organisation for Migration, officials of Foreign Ministry said.
The survivors landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport by a Turkish Airlines flight in the morning and they were now being quizzed by law enforcement agencies, said Tanvir Hossain, Assistant Director of Wage Earners Welfare Board (WEWB), who is in-charge of Welfare Desk of HSIA.
He told that they were all traffickers’ victims and
were taken to the Libyan coast via Dubai of United Arab Emirates.
Another WEWB official at the airport said that the rescued men were mostly from Sylhet, Habiganj and Kishoreganj.
Their detailed identities could not be gathered as yet, the official said.
According to the foreign ministry, at least 39 Bangladeshis went missing after the boat capsized in the Mediterranean Sea off Tunisia coast on May 11 while attempting to reach Europe from Libya.
Besides, 15 Bangladeshis were rescued alive from the capsized boat and the body of another was recovered from the sea.
