14kg gold seized at HSIA

Customs officials seized 14 kilogrammes of gold worth around taka seven crore from a cargo van at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) on Tuesday night.
The gold was brought to Dhaka through a Singapore Airlines flight that landed at the airport around 11:30pm, said HM Ahsanul Kabir, Assistant Commissioner of Customs Department.
Tipped-off, Customs officials seized a shipment, which was imported declaring garment products, he said.
Eighteen gold bars and 183 gold-chains were found hidden inside a detergent packets, the Customs official added.
A case has been filed with the Airport Police Station, said Md Taimur Hossain, Sub-Inspector of the police station.
