147 held in Hazaribagh, Karwan Bazar

At least 147 people were detained on Sunday during anti-narcotics drive at Hazaribagh and Karwan Bazar in Dhaka city, law enforcers claimed.
Karwan Bazar Railway Slum was raided around 3:00pm and 47 were picked up from there, according to Abdul Baten, Joint Commissioner of Detective Branch (DB).
Early in the day, more than 100 people, including five women, were detained during a drive in Ganaktuli area of the capital’s Hazaribagh.
The drive at Sweeper Colony was started at 11:00am for three hours, said Abdullahil Kafi, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Ramna Division, Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
Around 1,500 litres of locally made alcohol, 300 pieces of Yaba, some cannabis and phensidyl were seized from the area, ADC Abdullahil Kafi said.
The nationwide anti-drug drive was launched by RAB on May 4 upon receiving directives from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Police have been carrying out the drive since May 18.
