Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Huque on Saturday said the government will build houses for 14,000 insolvent Freedom Fighters (FF) across the country in the next year on the occasion of the Birth Centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
“It cannot be happened those who brought independence of the country exposing their lives at risk will have no adequate houses. Each house for the FFs will be built at a cost of Taka 16 lakh,” he said.

after inaugurating the newly built Manirampur Upazila Muktijoddha Complex constructed at cost of Taka 2.3 crore here.
The present government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working to preserve the memories of the country’s Liberation War and implement its spirit, Mozammel said, adding that the government has taken a plan to preserve the places where freedom fighters fought face to face with the Pakistani occupation force and killing grounds across the country.
Noting that the freedom fighter allowance has been increased to Taka 12,000 from Taka 3,000 in the last five years, the minister said the allowance will be increased again in the next year.
State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Swapan Bhattacharjee, former Jashore District Muktijoddha Sangsad Commander Rajek Ahmed spoke at the meeting, among others, with Manirampur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Ahsan Ullah Sharifee in the chair.
Earlier, Mozammel inaugurated a Liberation War Memorial built at a cost of Taka 29 lakh at MN Mitra High School in Jashore Sadar upazila.
