Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) filed separate cases against 14 steel re-rolling mills in Chittagong for running their mills without proper documents and lack of quality maintenance .
These re-rolling mills were sued before the Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate Court and Chief Judicial Magistrate in Chittaong separately.
Field officers of BSTI Mahmudul Hasan Rana and Md. Safayet filed these cases as plaintiffs.
BSTI sources said these rerolling mills were running productions without justifying the quality , without BSTI license since long. 12 mills of sitakunda upazila and 2 in Metropolitan area are located. These accused mills are Bem Industris and Multi Steel CastingLtd of city area and Champa ste els, Unic re-rolling mills, Azis Re-rolling Mills, NC Engineering Works, Nazia Pvt Ltd, Golden Steels, Safa Steel Re-rolling Mills, HSteel Re-rolling Mills, Brothers Steel industries, Khalil Steel, Peninsula Steel mills, and MTS Re-rolling Mills of Sitakunda Industrial Zone under Sitakunda upazila.
