BSS, Dhaka :
The 14-party spokesman and Awami League Presidium Member Mohammed Nasim said the alliance has steadfastly remained united for building a non-communal and repression, terrorism and rajakar-free nation.
“The 14-party alliance will always stay beside Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in building a non-communal and repression-free Bangladesh,” he said this on Thursday while speaking at a discussion organised by Gono Azadi League at the Jatiya Press Club marking the 97th anniversary of the ‘Salanga Day’.
The day commemorates the massacre at Salanga Hat in Sirajganj as the police opened fire on the people who gathered at Salanga as part of Khelafat and non-cooperation movement under the leadership of Maulana Abdur Rashid Tarkabagish on January 27, 1922.
Workers Party President Rashed Khan Menon, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal President Hasanul Haq Inu, Jatiya Party (JP) Secretary General Sheikh Sahidul Islam, NAP leader Ismail Hossain, among others, addressed the meeting with Gono Azadi League President SM Shikder in the chair.
Nasim said the 14-party alliance was not meant for power rather it was constituted on an ideological plane.
The 14-party spokesman said the alliance will always work unitedly to build Sonar Bangla as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The former Health and Family Welfare Minister said both ruling and opposition parties must be pro-liberation forces. That is why the 14-party alliance partners will act as the opposition party, he added.
Nasim said the opposition will alert the government by identifying flaws or mistakes and resisting conspiracies of defeated forces of Liberation War.
The AL leader said though the pro-liberation forces attained a landslide victory in the December 30 national election, the anti-liberation forces are still hatching conspiracies against the state.
“We will have to take ahead the country along with the people by resisting all conspiracies,” he added.
