Leaders of Awami League-led 14-party alliance on Tuesday called for resolving the problem created over the situation centering the movement for reformation of quotas in public service.
The alliance leaders said this at a meeting held at Dhanmandi political office of the Awami League President Sheikh Hasina.
The government should resolve the issue, as Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina declared in Parliament that the quote system in the government jobs would be abolished, they said. They added that the committee formed with cabinet secretary should take immediate decision to resolve the issue.
Politburo Member of the Workers Party of Bangladesh Quamrul Ahsan said that some leaders of the alliance expressed their views that the quote issue should be resolved as early as possible.
He said that President of the Bangladesh JSD Sharif Nurul Ambia, Bangladesh Jatiya Party Secretary General Sheikh Shahidul Islam and Workers Party Politburo Member Anisur Rahman Mallick also expressed their views on the quota issue.
After the meeting, Coordinator of the Alliance and Presidium Member of Awami League, Mohammad Nasim, at a press briefing said that the alliance leaders wanted that the quota committee should take an acceptable decision to resolve the issue.
