Abrar murder: 14-party demands speedy trial

The Ruling Awami League (AL) led 14-party alliance has demanded a special speedy trial to bring justice to murder of BUET student Abrar Fahad.
“Trial of the killers of Abrar Fahad should be held in a speedy trial tribunal,” 14-party spokesperson and Awami League (AL) Presidium Member Mohammad Nasim told a press conference following a meeting of the alliance at AL central office at Bangabandhu Avenue.
“We urge the Home Ministry for a speedy trial in the Abrar murder case,” said Mohammad Nasim.
He said, such behaviour from a Vice-Chancellor cannot be acceptable.
Replying to a question, Md Nasim said the alliance does not support banning of students’ politics rather it wants students’ politics in proper trend.
Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal Chief Hasanul Haque Inu said student politics will not be banned, but politics of terrorists will be banned.
Abrar, a second year student of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) Department of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) was beaten to death by some Chhatra League leaders inside the university’s Sher-e-Bangla Hall in the early hours of last Monday.
