Staff Reporter :At least 14 people were killed and 30 others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a stone laden truck on the Dhaka-Bogra highway at Dhankundi in Sherpur upazila on Friday morning.The head-on collision left seven passengers dead on the spot while two succumbed to their injuries at Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bogra town and one at Sherpur Upazila Health Complex, locals and police said. The deceased were identified as Parvez Alam, 37, son of Abdul Aziz of Dinajpur; Bhola Mia, 42, son of Abdul Malek of Tangail; Shamim, 40, bus driver and son of Hafiz Uddin; Nazmul Sarkar, 40, son of Nurul Islam of Dinajpur; Benzir Rahman, 35, son of Khalilur Rahman of Rangpur; Tazirul Islam, 40, son of Tazbar Ali of Dinajpur; Dulal Hossain, 28, son of Shah Alam, Hafizur Rahman, 28, son Noor Mohammad of Thakurgaon; Abdul Barik, 35, son Sanowar Hossain of Joypurhat and Abdul Hakim, 35, son of Shafi Mohammad of Dinajpur. The injured were admitted to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital and Sherpur Upazial Health Complex. Condition of five other passengers were stated be critical. Our Bogra Correspondent adds, the accident occurred around 6:30am when a Dinajpur-bound bus of ‘Rekha Enterprise’ (Dhaka Metro-Ba-14-2815) from Bogra collided head-on with the Dhaka-bound stone-laden truck (Dhaka Metro-Da-14-1167), coming from the opposite direction.On information, police and firefighters rushed to spot and recovered the bodies Quoting passengers and the injured, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Bogra, Gaziur Rahman said that the accident took place around 6:30am as the driver of the passenger bus felt sleepy.Seven people died on the spot, the ASP confirmed.Police and fire service personnel with the help of locals rushed the injured to Sherpur Upazila Health Complex and Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bogra.Besides, in road crash two people were killed and another injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a motorbike on the Khulna-Dakope road at Boroitola in Batiaghata upazila of Khulna district at 10:00am on Friday. The deceased were identified as Uttam Kumar and Bulanath. The seriously injured Hironmoy was admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital.
