Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) apprehended 14 people for allegedly cheating people in the name of giving jobs in different organizations.
They were held from Dhaka’s Mirpur and Mohammadpur area on Sunday, confirmed RAB-4 Operations Officer Senior ASP Ziaur Rahman Chowdhury on Monday.
The arrestees are Mamun Hossain Billal, 38, Ujjal Mia, 25, Shariful Islam, 22, Sohag Khan, 22, Amanul Islam, 22, Zakir Hossain, 24, Md Raihan, 20, Forkan Uddin, 30, Monirul Islam, 24, Rahat Hawlader, 24, Md Ahad, 25, Abu Raihan, 22, Sahibur Rahman, 22, and Alif Hossain, 20. He said based on a complaint, RAB-4 found that “Dikra Security and Logistics Services Limited” was extorting large sums of money from job seekers in the name of giving jobs in various organizations.
Later, RAB-4 conducted raids at its office in Pallabi, and Anwara Logistics and Security Services Limited in Mirpur’s Kazipara and Mohammadpur area on Sunday between 2:30pm to 10:30pm, he added.
That time, 14 active members of the fraud ring were arrested and 44 aggrieved job seekers were rescued.
RAB also recovered 24 admission form books, 10 visiting card boxes, 70 pages of job application forms, seven fake recruitment notices, Tk97,000, five registers, one note book, 52 CVs, eight seals, two identity cards, and five fake posting forms from their possession, he further added.
During the interrogation, RAB found that the main ringleader of this fraudulent gang was Mamun Hossain Billal. The fake institutions were run under his supervision, said the official.
Apart from Mamun, four to five more fugitives are involved in this fraud. Efforts are being made to arrest the remaining fugitives, he said.
