Citi Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Citigroup, on Saturday honoured 14 entrepreneurs and institutions in six categories with the 12th Citi Microentrepreneurship Awards (CMA).
Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal, State Minister for Finance and Planning MA Mannan attended the award-giving ceremony as the chief guest and a special guest respectively.
Bangladesh Bank Deputy Governor SK Sur Chowdhury, Chairperson of the 12th CMA Advisory Committee Dr Wahiduddin Mahmud, Sub-Cluster Head, Citi Bangladesh and Sri Lanka James Morrow, Managing Director and Country Officer, Citi Bangladesh Rashed Maqsood, Executive Director, Sajida Foundation Zahida Fizza Kabir were also present.
The guests presented a crest, cheque and certificate to each of the 14 winners in six categories.
The individuals who received the awards are M Zillur Rahman Chowdhury, M Saiduzzaman Sarkar, M Azijul Hoque Sikder, Ruma Akter, Fazilatun Nessa, Rubama Sharmin, M Rubel Dewan, Rahima Khatun (Mukta), M Taifur Rahman Raju, Saima Khatun, M Altaf Hossain, M Nurul Amin Sardar.
Peoples Oriented Program Implementation (POPI) received the ‘Best Microfinance Institution of the Year’ award, while Village Education Resource Center (VERC) received the ‘Most Innovative Microfinance Institution of the Year’.
The Citi Microentrepreneurship Awards have been supported by Citi Foundation and implemented by Citibank, N.A. Bangladesh with support from Sajida Foundation as the local partner and with the strategic partnership of Credit Development Forum (CDF).
