State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain yesterday said the ongoing strict lockdown has been relaxed for Eid-ul-Azha. However, after Eid, a 14-day strict lockdown will be given from July 23.
He said these while speaking as the chief guest at the concluding parade of the 96th batch of BGB-6 on Saturday.
The 14-day lockdown would be “more severe than before” from July 23, State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain also said.
The State Minister added that the ongoing lockdown for Eid-ul-Azha has been relaxed considering the country’s economy. However, garment and industrial factories, including government and private offices, will remain closed during the strict lockdown after Eid.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet Division has imposed a nationwide strict lockdown for seven days from July 1 due to the increase in Covid-19 infection. The lockdown was then extended to midnight on July 14.
However, keeping in view the observance of the holy Eid-ul-Azha, the government announced a relaxation of the lockdown from July 15 to July 23. With the relaxation of lockdown, public transport was introduced and all kinds of shops including shopping malls were opened.
