Fourteen Bangladeshi youths have returned home through the Benapole check post border on Sunday night, after serving two years imprisonment at Tamil Nadu central jail in India.
Petrapole Immigration Police of India handed them over to Benapole Immigration Police at 8:00 pm.
The Indian authorities returned them following repeated requests by the Bangladesh home ministry.
Indian police handed over- Selim, 23, Liton, 28, Ibrahim, 30, Rabiul Islam, 20, Fazlul Karim, 30, Delwar Hossain, 21, Anwar Hossain, 22, Rashid, 28, Roni Mia, 25, Bashar, 31, Shariful, 23, Sabuj Mia, 32, and Abdul Rashid, 31-hailing from Faridpur, Madaripu, Noakhali, and Satkhira districts said Abul Bashar, officer in-charge of Benapole check post immigration police.
They were arrested in Tamil Nadu town two and half years ago for entering the country illegally, the OC said, quoting them. Later they were sent to jail through court. At the end of the sentence following the arrest, they were sent to Bangladesh discussed both of the countries Home ministry, he added.
After completing their imprisonment, they were sent back to Bangladesh.
A gang of human traffickers trafficking them to India through Satkhira border, promising lucrative jobs for them, the police official said.
